Voidburn
A downloadable game for Windows and macOS
8 Solar Systems to explore, each with various civilizations and peoples disturbed by your presence. Has humanity learned nothing from colonization of the Earth? By the year 2607, no, we have not.
Voidburn is a twin stick shooter with fast-paced, responsive movement mechanics. Fight hostile aliens that alter the mechanics and restrictions of the game world in combat that is easy to learn but hard to master.
Unique mechanics:
- Vectorscope scanner: collect strange sounds that are also images. Literally.
- Shift engine: use humanity's newfound power to shift between planes as a fun and intuitive "dodge roll"
- Absurdity: alien worlds with alien ways of life and alien physics. Find common ground to gather information and spread humanity's influence.
Cool mechanics:
- Ship color, shape, and trail customization
- Gameplay-modifying enemy drops, consumables, deployables, and technology
- Rifts: portals to pocket dimensions with strange challenges to complete
- Blueprints: collect alien tech salvage and make your own deployable gameplay modifiers
- Void stations: broadcast signals coming from everywhere and nowhere, playing music from every corner of the dimension
Features
- auto-resizeable UI for ultrawide monitors
- 60hz and unlocked refresh rate modes
- carefully crafted skill tree
- 65,000 lines of Python
Planned features
- 10+ hours of main story content
- 20+ hours of optional content
- Politics system
- Dozens of interactive NPCs
Note March 13th 2026: This game is in early alpha and everything is subject to change. A controller is required and probably always will be. I would describe the current phase of the game as "mechanics testing", so at the moment there is only 1 reachable debug solar system and no quests. Learn the mechanics, destroy stuff, close rifts, and explore. I have been working on this for less than 2 months but I am working on it full time, every day. I plan to release it on Steam this year.
